7.00 pm Gallery of the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences, opening of the exhibition Ljubica Marić: …secret / silence / creation… (Minister of culture Nebojša Bradić)
As a part of the 100 years of birth celebration of the composer Ljubica Marić, Serbian Academy for Arts and Sciences and Musicological Institute organize an exhibition at the gallery of this institution entitled Ljubica Marić: …secret / silence / creation…. The artist will be presented on this exhibition with numerous facts regarding life and work, based predominantly on the unknown material, but with the creative and communicative attitude towards the audience, with the possibility to listen to her compositions using audio devices, as well as to watch adaptations of TV movies made for her music, her interviews in various media, and to get to know her poetry and objects of visual art. The author of this exhibition is PhD Melita Milin, science counselor at the Musicology Institute of Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the authors of the display are Milan Janić, designer, and Nenad Marković, set designer. The speakers at the opening of the exhibition are Minister of Culture of the Republic if Serbia, Mr. Nebojša Bradić, and Mrs Melita Milin. The excerpts from Ljubica Marić’s poetic work reads Mrs. Dara Čalenić, actress and her friend.

5.00 pm Conference Hall of Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences, Opening of the international conference: Spaces of Modernism: Ljubica Marić’s opus in the context of the music of her time

The International Scientific Conference under the title Spaces of Modernism: Ljubica Marić’s opus in the context of the music of her time organized by the Musicology Institute and the Department for Fine Arts and Music of the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences in cooperation with UNESCO, will be held on November 5th to 7th 2009. In this event will participate 16 Serbian and 12 foreign musicologists. Working languages are Serbian and English. The participants are top Serbian and foreign researchers, and according to the received works and excerpts, Ljubica Marić’s opus will be perceived versatily and innovatively. With the special anticipation is expected the premiere of composer’s newly found miniature for flute, planned for the first day of the conference. The conference will be opened at the hall of the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences by the academician Dimitrije Stefanović, the president of Organization Committee, and PhD Danica Petrović, head of the Musicology Institute.
